friedewulf (USA: MN) (2008/10/08): Emotionally gripping...the book builds to a climax of brutality...aptly evokes the narrators feverish view of a dangerous and unpredictable world. And it's language possesses a ferocity of expression that strikes the reader with all the subtlety of a gut-punch. -PUBLISHERS WEEKLYAll the more remarkable for being an honest account of the conflict in Vietnam from the winning side...The realities of war are frenzied, dehumanizing aggression, the creating of an unnatural thirst for killing and wanton cruelty...The pain of Vietnam conflict has been told and retold in the West. A few propaganda films aside, North Vietnam has been silent. Until now. -THE ECONOMIST
LK (USA: IL) (2009/02/15): Very good book but sad and tough to get through because it is so sad. The stuff we never heard in the U.S. while watching the war on TV back in the 60's. I'm glad I read it and got some sense of the other side of the situation. War is hell.
