I had been looking for a Crichton book, and didn't remember this one. It's a compelling read in the highly-intelligent and always questioning style of M.C. After I got into the story, I realized this was the book on which the film "Disclosure" with Demi Moore and Michael Douglas was based. Had I known that before I mooched the book, I probably would not have done so. I found the movie forgettable.The book on the other hand is not. Moore was miscast. Douglas opposite another actress, probably would have been okay, but someone like Harrison Ford might have been more believable. Now, I may have to go back and check the film one more time. And if you have the slightest interest in the meteoric pace of technology, you'll appreciate how much has already leap-frogged what Crichton discusses in the book. The key themes, however, are universal and lasting -- and maybe even just a little scary in how close to reality they seem to be. Enjoy the read!
