Reviews: Mary Moonshine (USA: CA) (2007/11/03):
Disturbing and creepy. The book is written with chapters alternating viewpoints or something, I think towards the middle of the book I started reading just every other chapter...

Christine (USA: IL) (2008/01/29):
It's hard to say which part of the book is more interesting, the story of the serial murderer and his victims, or the story of Chicago's successful bid to host the Columbian Exposition. The one downside to the book is that it is written in an every-other-chapter format, alternating between the two stories, but never really connecting the two. This makes the book difficult to read straight through.

Vickytoria (USA: AK) (2008/02/26):
I really loved this book, and oddly, I enjoyed the alternating chapter concept. I have many books "going" at one time, so it seemed natural. I did like the sections about the Exposition more than the criminal aspect, and also found a wonderful DVD documentary about the Expostion in our local library video section that complimented the book perfectly. Eric Larson is a fun writer of history, and really brings these things to life. I recommend "Isaac's Storm" and "Thunderstruck" also if you enjoy this one.

Amelia (USA: CA) (2008/05/16):
I really liked this book. The history of the Chicago World's fair is so interesting. Erik Larson made what could have been a very dull book engaging. (The alternating chapters did not bother me at all.)

Jessica Provenz (USA: NY) (2009/08/20):
LOVED this book!

Heidi Hurtado (USA: FL) (2009/12/13):
I really enjoyed this book. The author does a good job of detailing the architects challenge of creating this HUGE fair in Chicago in a race against time while showing how a murderer took advantage of this phenomenon. Very interesting. And I learned something!

Chris (USA: MO) (2010/01/25):
I listened to the audio version of this book and LOVED it! If you think you don't like reading true crime, this will change your mind.

Julie Comeau (USA: TX) (2010/08/22):
I read this book right before visiting my daughter in Chicago. It really gave me a good sense of the history of Chicago and the places tha we visited. Tis is a great book. I look forward to readig more of Larson's books.

Chanel163 (USA: NY) (2012/05/31):
I did not read this book personally but the description seems very interesting. I have not had the time to read and if i dint give it away now it will sit in my closet for years until my busy life in not busy anymore. :)
